How to practice etudes
An étude (study) is an instrumental musical composition, designed to provide practice material for perfecting a particular musical skill.1
Benefits
Etudes are good to:
- practice techniques
- develop stamina
- play on tempo
How to practice
Use metronome
Etudes should be practiced at the right tempo. Start slowly and increasing speed until reaching the required tempo.
Each day start with a comfortable tempo and try to finish the practice at a faster speed.
Divide and conquer
Divide the study into sections and practice them separately.
Focus on goals
Each etude aims to practice and develop specific techniques. Have it always present and practice keeping that in mind to improve that.
